Focus Group Camera Club of Richmond, Virginia presents a lecture by noted digital landscape photographer, author, designer and educator Stephen Johnson, on Thursday evening, November 1, at River Road Presbyterian Church, 8960 River Rd., Richmond, VA at 7:30PM.  ($5 donation)

Join us to hear Stephen Johnson talk about increasing creativity in your photography, from making the shot to making the print.  He’s lively, he’s engaging, he’s a renowned photographer, and he knows how to present his ideas!  His topic on November 1 will be Practical Problem Solving & New Opportunities in the Digital Age of Photography.

Practical Problem Solving & New Opportunities in the Digital Age of Photography.

The digital age of photography offers unique opportunities to address longtime photographic issues and new opportunities to take photography to an even greater power to record what we see and react to with our hearts.


This lecture address both the practical and the aesthetic with detail and sensitivity. Issues are addressed such a chromatic aberration, perspective, exposures with realistic shadow and highlight representations, realistic color including remapping default camera interpretation to more custom and accurate renditions. Editing opportunities to emphasize strengths, reduce distractions without major photo fibbing will also be explored. Gray areas of retouching ethics and audience communication will be touched upon in this dynamic lecture.
