Apollo 11 Recorder and TV System with 80 hours of audio tapes (original equipment).
This morning marks the 50th anniversary of the launch of Apollo 11. At 13 years old, in July 1969, a young me (Steve Johnson) set up his little Sony black and white TV and his reel to reel audio tape recorder and began taping an evolutionary week for humankind.
There are approximately 80 hours of tape spanning multiple stations, starting on July 4 through the safe return of Apollo 11. Recorded through a microphone next to the television, the young Steve can be heard on occasion, including a just discovered big "yahoo" after the launch. I am digitizing the entire set of 8 tapes.
Join us for our Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Landing Party this Saturday, July 20, 2019, 5pm to 8:30pm, Stephen Johnson Photography. Pacifica.
